Journalist and historian Taj Ali's new book, Come What May, We're Here to Stay: The Story of South Asian Resistance in Britain, tells the story of British South Asians' long tradition of radical political activism, from seafarers organising global strikes on the eve of the Second World War, to students agitating for independence at the heart of the British Empire, and communities resisting prejudice in the workplace and violence in the streets in the 1970s and 80s.
Join Taj and Vashti editor Francesca Newton to discuss the book and the current political moment on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at the National Education Union office in central London from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will be ample time for questions.
